Page 1 : Club terminology

3sixty
Reading University Student Union club located on Whiteknights campus in the main union building. Modern design with a stage also used to house bands, stalls and union functions. Main nights are Wednesday and Saturday.

After Dark
A less well known, slightly grubby club popular on Friday nights. Reading's biggest independent club, it is obscurely located on London Street behind an estate agents.

Back of Beyond
Wetherspoons in Reading town centre where the club meets for its weekly social night, every Tuesday from 9 (attendence falls during Uni holidays, but there's still normally some of us there).

Bar Risa
Another student friendly club in town, often do themed or cheap entry nights, but at the same time are also often underfilled.

BoB(s) See Back of Beyond

Dogma
Swanky bar/club with a modest dancefloor upstairs, plush seating but can be a bit costly. Serves food during the day. Located on Castle Street and popular with students on Tuesdays. Generally credited as the reason behind the demise of Fez.

Fez
Sorely missed club, popular with RUMC members on a Tuesday after BoBs. Best known for Fez (rock) Mondays and now re-branded as Sakura.

Hobgoblin
A pub in the centre of town that is good for real beers and ales. Also sports a parrot at the bar, however prices are noticably steeper than a Wetherspoons.

Hope Tap
Wetherspoons pubs closely situated to clubs in town. Popular student retreat and good venue for finishing pub crawls in before going to a club. As with the Back of Beyond it serves a good selection of cheaply priced drinks.

Monks Retreat
Another Wetherspoons pub.

Po Na Na
Now closed it used to be another fun club to visit, main nights being a Thursday it was a small and extremely hot venue but with good music and always drawing a crowd.

Purple turtle
A late night bar with small stage area, located next to Sakura it is a plausable alternative for a late night if you do not fancy going to a club.

Reflex
80's cheese club in town. Lit like a football ground during the FA Cup final and entirely populated by lecherous old men and dodgy old ladies. Plays the same music every night and will destroy your soul. Bafflingly popular with some members!

Retreat, The
A tucked away old man's pub that serves a good selection of unusual beers and ales. Fun place to go if you like beer and have a small group to go there with, bit daunting if on your own and not sporting a long beard and 50yrs of age.

Sakura See ' Fez'

Sadar Palace / Sardars
A very large indian restaurant that has been host to several RUMC formal meals. Prices are reasonable and within a student budget.

Vodka Rev(olution)
A popular club / vodka bar in town with competitive prices and a decent venue. Early arrival is essential though as due to popularity there tends to be long queues

Wagamama
Another large resaurant that has been host to a RUMC formal meal. This restaurant serves Thai / Japanese food and is affordably priced.

Perhaps we should add to the Static rope entry that most often static ropes are plain white (certainly the club ones are) or black as opposed to highly coloured dynamic ropes, so that people can recognise them in the kit bag.
